How Do I Track My Order

You can track your order by adding the optional tracking feature on the Review screen. You will receive updates as your items move via USPS. Although we are accredited and ship all items using the address info you provide, this is the only true way to verify that an item was delivered. Movement is controlled by United States Post Office just like all mail. This optional feature is an additional $3.19 to the cost of your order.

What the best way to keep up with updates and new features?

Does the Jail Mail App feature money orders?

No. Jail Mail does not offer any money order services. We apologize for any inconvenience.

What if I enter the wrong inmate address?

If you enter an incorrect address, the order will be returned to you – given that you entered a correct return address. We recommend you double check each address entered when you create new Contact and Sender profiles in the app.

Are pictures and postcards glossy finish? What size?

We’re proud of the quality of the photos and postcards we send at Jail Mail. Each photo we send is a 4×6 glossy photo printed on a professional grade printer. Each Postcard is 5×8 and also printed on a professional grade printer.

Is Jail Mail accepted by all prisons/jails?

All institutions that permit inmates to receive correspondence though letters and photos should accept correspondence through the Jail Mail App. However, if your order violates rules of acceptable content for that institution your package may be rejected. We recommend you check the rules for your inmates institution.

Why don’t you accept American Express?

At Jail Mail we are committed to keeping our prices are low as possible. Given the rates American express charges for each transaction we are not able to accept payment through them and keep our prices low. We are happy to announce that we now accept PayPal and Apple Pay in addition to VISA and MasterCard.

How does PayPal work?

To use PayPal select that option when you are on the payment selection screen. A window will open asking for your PayPal credentials. You will then be prompted to select the payment source within your PayPal linked account(s). After selecting payment you will be returned to JailMail. For PayPal specific questions please visit

How does the Rewards Program work?

We like to reward our customers so we are happy to launch our new rewards program. For every 10 letters sent you earn a free letter, and for every 10 photos send you earn a free photo. You can check your current status by selecting Rewards from the app menu.

What are the prices?

Letters – .99 cents each (up to 6 pages)
Photos – .49 cents each
Postcards – 1.29 each
Our rewards program allows our regular customers to earn savings.

How does it work?

Jail Mail is the simplest way to stay in touch with inmates. Right from the app, you can send letters, photos and postcards. Your order is then sent to our secure server and we do the hard work of printing and mailing the items via USPS First Class mail to your friends and family.

How long will it take my order to get there?

We send each order within 24 hours of receiving it. It then generally takes 2-3 days to reach the institution after which it must go through inspection. Given the uncertainty in the time it takes to reach each facility and the inspection process, we ask that you allow 7 days for the order to get there.

Will I get a confirmation when they receive it?

When your order is successfully accepted you will receive an e-mail confirmation. However, you will NOT receive confirmation when the inmate gets the order because orders are shipped via USPS First Class Mail and we currently have no way to track them. Please allow 7 days for your order to arrive pass inspection before contacting support.
